Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, December 4 — On the occasion of the 10th National Constitution Day, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, President of State, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, made important instructions pointing out that the Constitution is the general charter for governing the country and ensuring peace, the fundamental legal basis for Party's governance, and the highest legal norm for the country's political and social life. Since the 18th National Congress of the CPC, the Party has strengthened comprehensive leadership over constitutional work, enriched and developed the theory and practice of the Constitution with Chinese characteristics, and promoted historic achievements in the construction and implementation of the country's constitutional system.       

Xi Jinping emphasized that on the new journey, we must firmly uphold the authority and dignity of the Constitution, promote its improvement and development, and better play the important role of Constitution in state governance, providing a solid guarantee for comprehensively advancing the building of a strong country and the great cause of national rejuvenation with Chinese-style modernization. We must firmly maintain in the political system, unswervingly adhere to the leadership of the Communist Party of China as determined by the Constitution, and unswervingly adhere to the state form of's democratic dictatorship and the political system of the people's congresses as determined by the Constitution. We must implement the thought on the rule of law with Chinese characteristics in the era, ensure the comprehensive implementation of constitutional provisions, principles, and spirit, systematically advance the implementation, interpretation, and supervision of the Constitution, accelerate the improvement of the legal system with characteristics centered on the Constitution, and continuously improve the level of constitutional implementation and supervision. On the 4th, the General Office of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) jointly held symposium in Beijing with the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and the Ministry of Justice on "Promoting the Spirit of the Constitution, Strengthening the Implementation of the Constitution, and Providing Guarantees for Building a Strong Country and National Rejuvenation". The symposium conveyed important instructions from Xi Jinping.
