Hello everyone! As the winter solstice brings the return of yang energy, the year turns and the seasons cycle. At this beautiful of bidding farewell to the old and ushering in the new, I extend my New Year greetings to you all from Beijing! 

In 2023, we continued our work and forged ahead, weathering storms, witnessing beautiful scenery, and achieving substantial achievements. Everyone remembers the challenges of the past year and is full of confidence in the future.

Over the past year, we have made great strides with confidence. China is a great country with a civilization. On this vast land, the solitary smoke over the desert and the fine rain in Jiangnan always inspire us to connect with the past and yearn for the distant; the winding River and the rushing Yangtze River always stir our hearts and fill us with pride. The dawn of civilization at Liangzhu and Erlitou, the inheritance of oracle bone inscriptions at Yinxi the cultural treasures of Sanxingdui, and the continuity of cultural heritage at the National Archives of Publications... China is a vast nation with a long history and a profound civilization. This is foundation of our confidence and the source of our strength.

China is not only developing itself but also actively embracing the world and assuming its responsibilities as a major power. We successfully the China-Central Asia Summit and the 3rd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, welcoming friends from all five continents through a series of home-field diplomacy events. I also visited some countries attended several international conferences, met many old friends and new partners, shared China's positions, and deepened mutual consensus. Despite the changing world, peaceful development remains the main theme, and cooperation and-win results remain the fundamental principle.

On the road ahead, wind and rain are the norm. Some enterprises face operational pressures, some people encounter difficulties in employment and living, and places suffer from natural disasters such as floods, typhoons, and earthquakes. I am deeply concerned about all of these. I am deeply moved by how everyone braves the wind rain, helps each other, faces challenges head-on, and overcomes difficulties. Hardworking farmers, diligent workers, courageous entrepreneurs, and soldiers defending the country—people from all walks of life are, and every ordinary person has made extraordinary contributions! The people will always be our greatest reliance in overcoming all difficulties and challenges.

Next year marks the 75th anniversary of founding of the People's Republic of China. We must unswervingly advance Chinese modernization, fully, accurately, and comprehensively implement the new development philosophy, accelerate the building of new development pattern, promote high-quality development, and coordinate development and security. We must adhere to seeking progress while maintaining stability, promoting stability through progress, and establishing before breaking, consolidate and the upward trend of economic recovery, and achieve steady and long-term economic development. We must comprehensively deepen reform and opening up, further boost development confidence, enhance economic vitality, and greater efforts to education, science and technology, and talent cultivation. We must continue to support Hong Kong and Macao in leveraging their advantages to maintain long-term prosperity and stability while integrating into the overall national development. National reunification is a historical necessity, and compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait should work hand in hand with one heart to share the great glory national rejuvenation.

Our goal is grand yet simple: ultimately, to make life better for the people. The upbringing and education of children, the employment and success of young people, and medical care and elderly care for the elderly are both family and national matters. Everyone must work together to handle these matters well. Currently, the pace of society is very fast, and is very busy, facing great pressure in work and life. We must create a warm and harmonious social atmosphere, expand inclusive and active spaces for innovation, and create convenient and comfortable living conditions, that everyone can be happy, lead a brilliant life, and realize their dreams.

At present, some parts of the world are still engulfed in the smoke and fire of war. Chinese people deeply understand the preciousness of peace. We are willing to work with the international community, keeping the future of humanity and the well-being of the people in mind, to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind and a better world.

At this very moment, the night is colorful and the lights of a thousand homes are shining. Let us together wish for the prosperity and strength of our motherland, for peace and tranquility in the world! May everyone be blessed with warmth throughout the four seasons, and enjoy smooth and healthy lives!
